Slow Computer Stress Relief

Recently, my computer was running very slowly for several weeks in a row. (I'm known among family and friends for keeping ridiculously vast amounts of windows open at a time, and this could have has something to do with it.) I decided to switch computers and use a computer that my husband didn't need anymore--a faster and newer model--in hopes of a slower wait time. Sadly, this backfired, and the 'new' computer was even slower than my old one!

As I waited for new windows to open only after what seemed like careful consideration on my computer's part, and for videos to load following an eternity of buffering, I started getting impatient and stressed. I thought of the time I was wasting waiting for a slow computer, of how it 'should' be faster, of everything I needed to get done instead of staring at a slow-moving screen. (Yes, I usually know better than to go into rumination mode over little things, but I forgot!) My frustration started to build on itself over the days, gaining momentum until I was seriously annoyed when I worked.

Fortunately, I caught myself, and changed tactics. Instead of stressing over something I couldn't control, I changed my attitude and used the following quick stress relievers. I recommend them to you for use during slow traffic, slow elevators, slow lines at the DMV, or anywhere else that presents you with wait time. Here goes:

I ended up switching back to my old computer, making a few upgrades, and simplifying my life by keeping fewer windows open at once. But I realized something valuable in the process: time spent needlessly stressing over wait time is time that could be more constructively used to relieve stress!
